combine two audio outputs into one

Like I said, I feel like those are made to combine a stereo and a mic into a stereo+mic. I figured that since a 2 female 1 male splitter was intended to share 1 audio source between 2 peoples headphones, that a 2 male 1 female would do the opposite and combine 2 audio sources into 1 headphone. This will require some wire work and soldering, but the 10K isolation between channels will buffer the outputs from each other. Which I would get it all connected properly, but I think those are actually intended to plug into a mic and headphone port on a computer to combine it into one 3.5mm stereo+mic for the headsets that have audio and mic in one 3.5mm jack. The best way to do this w/o a switch is to open the Y cable and insert a 10k resistor in series with each of the hot legs into the common output. I want to figure out how to do it correctly because looking around on amazon I found splitters with 2 male ends and 1 female end. My intentions are to be able to listen to music on my phone and play a game at the same time, or use my phone for skype and play a game at the same time. I'm looking to find a way to get audio from both my 3DS and my phone into my headphones at the same time.
